Jake Sonnevelt is the owner, operator, and founder of Barefoot Guide Service. He’s been on the water since a very early age and brings a lifetime of experience and passion to every trip.
Jake has explored lakes all across North Texas, but Lake Lewisville will always be home. He’s spent countless hours discovering every honey hole in the area — and he knows where to find the fish no matter the conditions.

Fishing isn’t just a job — it’s a way of life for Jake. He proudly carries on a tradition passed down by the legendary “Old Timers” who taught him the art of the catch. That knowledge is now part of every trip he guides.
Jake has also fished across the country, from freshwater rivers and lakes to saltwater coasts — including Texas, Florida, the Northeast, and the Dominican Republic. Every trip brings new insight and techniques that he shares with his clients on the water.
Family First, Always
Jake’s greatest accomplishment in life? Becoming a father to his daughter, Tatum. She’s been on the boat with him since she was just two weeks old — and by now, she might just love fishing more than he does.
